signs when to call an electrician

Picture
It is important to know when or why you should contact one of our professional electricians to come service your home or office. It is dangerous to try and fix these issues yourself, and without experience and training, you could make the problem worse. You may also be putting yourself, your family, and your employees at risk.

blown fuses/tripped breakers

If you find that your fuses blow regularly, or if your circuit breakers are being tripped often, you make consider calling an electrician. This is a sign that your circuits are taking more power than they can safely distribute. This could also be a warning that there are one or more circuits with dangerous faults.

flickering or waning

Have you ever had a moment when you turned on the microwave, and the lights begin to wane or flicker? This is a common issue when your motor-driven appliances draw a great amount of current. They need to be wired on a circuit that is dedicated to them. However, if you are having issues with smaller appliances, you may need to think about servicing them with the addition of a 20 amp line.

warmth and shock

If your electrical system surfaces are warm to the touch, it could be a sign of a very dangerous issue. If could be as simple as too great of a demand on the circuit, or could even be a sign of aluminum wiring. Other signs of being aware of are mild shocks when touching or using a switch or outlet, blackening around switchplates, terminals for switches, or the ends of wires.

electrical system age

One big reason to call an electrical professional is age. Homes that haven’t received upgrades in more than 25 years often experience the most issues.
